Police Are Investigating a Pipe-Bomb Explosion That Decapitated 21-Year-Old Colin Dalebroux

The body was found on September 14 near Nichols Middle School in Evanston by Dale Wyatt who was walking his dog around 5:35am.

The school is close to Dalebroux's apartment and police are now investigating what may have happened and if the incident was an accident.

The man, Dale Wyatt, and another pedestrian saw the body and called police.

"Honestly, at first I thought it was a mannequin, like somebody was playing a sick prank," Wyatt said.

Residents in the area did report hearing an explosion around 3:50am and although police responded they could not find out what the source of the noise was at that time. When Dalebroux's body was found the bomb squad was called and the device was rendered inoperable.

It has now been revealed that Dalebroux had two pipe-bombs, one which was destroyed and another while took Dalebroux's life. Police are now examining his computer and records.

Nichols Middle School is closed for today because of the incident.

Heard and called

The explosion wasn't at 5:35am, the explosion was at 3:54am.  I was awake, heard it, and called the police a minute later.  (I have the time stamp on my cell phone.)
