Churuguara, Falcon State, Venezuela, 21 August 2008. After attending a hearing at Congress for over two hours, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe pleaded not guilty in the bribery case involving his second term in office. Few months ago, it emerged an MP, Yidis Medina, had been paid by government official to cast a deciding vote on constitutional reform that allow Uribe a second term in office. This hearing was promoted by MP Jaime Durán from the opposition Liberal Party. If found guilty by Colombian Congress, President Alvaro Uribe would be judged by the Supreme Court. However, it is unlikely Uribe would undergo such predicaments as his political forces now control the congress.
