Commentary: Globalization globaloney

WASHINGTON, April 6 (UPI) -- The prophets of globalization who saw a new world order ushering humanity into a new age of plenty for all are now adding a little crow -- not yet enough to qualify as humble pie -- to their editorial menus. It is now obvious the invasion of Iraq and the trillion-dollar effort that followed were huge distractions from the main event in Afghanistan that now requires -- but isn't getting -- our allies' undivided attention. At an early stage of the Iraq war, 60 percent of Americans believed Saddam Hussein was behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, a disinformation feat both Hitler and Stalin would have been proud of.
