When it comes to Obama's promises we all have to be more patient to see the out come. A president can't just say remove the troops now, as he can say close Guantanamo now. Reality says there are complications and reasons why some promises are hard to full fill.

The US Senate has voted to continue to allow Guantanamo inmates to be tried on US soil, removing a hurdle as the Obama administration seeks to close the camp.

The measure, which was passed by the House last week, permits Guantanamo detainees to be brought to the US only in order to face trial in US courts.

Now Obama has a chance of keeping a promise and now I am sure he will as best he can.

Sounds more like electioneering, than a real keep his promises....Next thing he will be saying vote for me again to get this done because we are this close //.

Look that really is a sad response from someone that wanted the place closed and sorted out. So this suggest that once Obama start to achieve its really not an achievement.  Sort of sour grape stuff. I personal could not have that attitude even though I dislike the man, to me thats just not being fair.

I think you misinterpret Bob.. After living in the US for 43 years.....I know why they stall on doing things.. It's is because of elections.....yes and other than just the Presidential election...to see who wins the suppport for issues. If he does close, I say that is great and is his achievement. My conclusion is that Obama is subservient to another power in the US, other than the Congress, and is why it appears to take so long...for them to close Gitmo. And I like the man Bob...I just don't like the stench he has to fix...that the Republican nimwits wrecked. Seems rather psychotic to think one party wrecks the place and the other party is held responsible in cleaning it up. And they call that Democracy?
