Congressman Robert Wexler,  of the 19th District of Florida,  is one of the co-sponsors to impeach President Bush, and very vocal on the current hearing on the matter. May be guilty of a Florida “high crime: of his own. He doesn't live in Florida, as required by Congress.  Some states have rules that you must live in your district as well.  But he and his family of 5 live in Virgina, but are paying Florida income taxes. ( Florida has no state income tax)  The "home he calls his own",  is actually owned by his Mother-In-Law,  in a retirement community!  Since this home is a retirement community, His children can't live there!  Bottom line here is Congressman Wexler has been dishonest to his constituents as one must maintain a residence in Florida to be in elected office.

Fox News program, The No Spin Zone, with Bill O'Relly presented the story on his program.  You can see that segmented here

Wexler, considered a Rock Star  in politics with his reality show, The Hill, on the Sundance Channel that features the inter workings of how a Congressional office operates, is known for his tough partisan question to those who come in front of his House committees he sits on.  He has also endorses the, impeach Bush, movement.  But here, Congressman Wexler has violated the ethics set down in the U. S. House and the Florida election board

How to run for Office in Florida

Bill O'Reilly Nails Robert Wexler

You see, the longtime Democratic rep says he lives in Delray Beach and he's required to maintain a residence in his district. But he really lives in Potomac MD. The house in Delray that he calls his "official residence" is owned by Lawrence and Roslyn Cohen, the parents of Wexler's wife, Laurie. And it's in a restricted over-55 community, which makes it impossible for Wexler and and his three children to reside there.

"U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Delray Beach)"? I think not.

Wexler's Republican opponent, Edward Lynch, dug this stuff up and fed it to Fox News. O'Reilly ate it up.

A Fox News producer named Griff Jenkins caught up with Wexler in the front yard of his home in Potomac. When Jenkins walked up on his driveway, Wexler -- looking 100 percent the goofy suburban dad in a green hat, green t-shirt, and shorts -- didn't even wait for a question.

Edward Lynch, a Republican running for Wexler's congressional seat, is taking his argument to the Fox News program The O'Reilly Factor at 8 pm. tonight.

"The house he lists on his voter registration is his in-laws' house in a gated 55-and-older community," Lynch said this afternoon. "Legally, he can't move back with children under 18."

Lynch said Wexler's three children attend Charles W. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Md.

A spokesman for Wexler denounced the accusations as "nothing more than a baseless political attack."

"Congressman Wexler moved to Florida when he was 10 years old and he has continually met Florida's residency requirements ever since," wrote the spokesman, Josh Rogin, in an e-mail message. "As Members of Congress have since the founding of the nation, he also keeps a home (in) the Washington area so his wife and three children can be with him while he serves in Congress."

Fox confirmed the issue would be discussed tonight on the program. Host Bill O'Reilly often calls his show the "No Spin Zone," although liberal critics dispute that description.

The outspoken Wexler is the author of the recent memoir Fire-Breathing Liberal: How I Learned to Survive (and Thrive) In the Contact Sport of Congress.

Lynch, meanwhile, said he intends to file legal papers about the issue in the coming weeks.

"That brings up a bunch of problems with respect to it is not truly his home, and it can't be his home, and he's using that address as his address to vote from," Lynch said.

Lynch faces Wexler and no-party candidate Ben Graber in the Nov. 4 election for Florida's 19th Congressional District.

Robert I. Wexler (born January 2, 1961) is an American politician from the U.S. state of Florida. He has served as a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 1997, representing Florida's 19th congressional district.

I for one am ashamed to call congressman wexler my representative!  This just shows how corrupt our government truly is!  If this turns out to be true I think  Congressmen Wexler has alot of explaining to do.  I hope people will call for his resignation, or will show there anger by just not electing him as our representative.  I for one will be pulling the lever for Mr. Lynch on November 4th!

Heck, I vacation in Florida at least once a year for the last 20 years, guess that makes me a resident!  Everyone vote for me!

Mr. Wexlar is a disgrace and I don't know if there is a honest politician on either side of the isle.

Term limits, a good idea for every branch of the government, and let's get those salaries and benefits lowered. Remove the temptations.

Good day and goodbye to Mr. Wexlar!

Wexler has well represented our district and shown considerable courage in backing Obama when so many here (and are) were Hillary livers. He spends 90% of his time in DC doing his job and I have no problem with his locating his family there.  His staff, office, and mindset are all here and I very much doubt this will affect his popularity ... or his incumbency.

I find it quite discouraging that Mr. Wexler not only DOES NOT live in the State of Florida, its that he flaunts it!

The law only states that you have to maintain a legal residence in the state.

However, the address listed is of his mother and father in law. It is an over 55 community, so Mr. Wexler is not "qualified" to be a resident.

To add insult to injury, taxes are not being paid on the property due to a "permanant disability" of one of the owners. If this is truly Mr. Wexlers legal residence, the property owners could not claim the tax exemption.

Thank your for that additional information.

So what I am hearing you say is,  I am happy with his service, so its ok for him to violate election laws.

I am disgusted with congressmen/women as Mr. Wexler. Our taxes support them intheir elected roles and, we pay our taxes. I plan to encourage my Floridian family members to VOTE MR WEXLER OUT OF OFFICE. We need congressmen/women who abide by the law!

Wait a minute. Does Wexler pay state income tax in maryland? Does Wexler pay state income tax in Florida? If Florida does not have a state income tax, and if Wexler is claiming that he "resides" in florida, does this mean that he pays no income tax in Florida because there is none, and pays no income tax in Maryland, even though he and his family live in Mayland and benefit from its services most of the year? If this is the case then this is a fraud on the taxpayers of Maryland, and should be prosecuted as a  crime.

He.is exempt from paying tax in Maryland  as he claims he lives in Florida.
