Construction Workers Trapped In Flooded Tunnel in Kansas are rescued

The four construction workers who were trapped in a tunnel in Kansas have been rescued.

It has been reported that all for were treated for hypothermia at the scene and released.

Authorities said that the workers were involved in a flood-control project and were traveling by boat through a tunnel that links Turkey Creek with the Kansas River. But excess water in the tunnel caused the boat to capsize.

Officials said workers routinely use the 90-year-old, 1,275-foot tunnel to travel between the two waterways.

PREVIOUSLY

A rescue is currenlty underway in Kansas City, Kansas, after four construction workers became trapped in a tunnel that goes from Turkey Creek to the Kansas River.

Authorities said the workers, who were working on a flood-control project at the time, were trying to go through the tunnel in a boat. But there was too much water in the tunnel and the boat capsized.

The workers are hanging on until water rescue crews can reach them. There are reports that two workers have been rescued.

Authorities said the workers regularly use tunnel to get from the creek to the river.
