Contact the BLM to strenghten fracking rules for clean water
EarthJustice is an organization that works to ensure cleaner air and water. You might be aware of fracking, a technique to get natural gas buried in the earth through blasting water and various chemicals in. What you might not know is that companies aren't required to disclose what they put in the ground, affecting the groundwater of eveyone for miles. They should of couse.
Even on federal lands the information available to the public isn't very good. For example a proposed rule about fracking on federal land will require disclosure only after the fracking itself. Another rule would allow one fracking well to be the model tested for numerous wells in an area drawn by the company. So a driller only needs one well to pass the standards given. I urge you to contact the Bureau of Land Management to urge real and concrete standards. Thank you.
By the way, Republicans in the Wisconsin legislature are trying to silence and censor the right to protest a proposed Gogebic Taconite operated iron mine in northern Wisconsin. Rep. Vos stated that protestors were uninformed.
Even if true, that isn't a reason to violate the right to protest, if so, then he himself wouldn't have a right to freedom of speech for being so uninformed on occassion.
One shouldn't be too surprised, this is the same group of legislators locking up people for taking pictures during legislative sessions, though that is a right guaranteed by Wisconsin law.
