The DNC schedule was released today.  Monday August 25th’s headline prime-time speaker will be Michelle Obama. Other speakers will be Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senator Claire McCaskill & Craig Robinson to Speak.  There will also be a Tribute to Senator Kennedy. Senator Hillary Clinton will be the headline prime-time speaker on Tuesday August 26th. On Wednesday August 27th will be Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential nominee.

On Thursday, August 28th, the DNCC will  move to INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium were community credentials will include residence of Colorado and a small amount of tickets for the rest of the 49 states. 80,000 people will witness Barack Obama accepting the Democratic nomination for President.

Politisite was contacted by a reporter from Rocky Mountain News inquiring if our DNCC coverage on Politisite.com was an attempt to invoke Republicans to scoop up tickets to disrupt the speech in anyway.

Politisite is independent of any political party and  reports the news. Politisite is gathering, other partisan Bloggers are attempting to gather tickets to have a protest presence Barack Obama's Nomination Acceptance speech at Invesco Field.  The reason that the Obama campaign is calling the tickets, "credentials" is so they can remove anyone who attempts to disrupt the event.

Democrats Announce Headline Speakers, Kicking Off Week-Long Convention Programming Roll-Out

DENVER – The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) and the Obama for America Campaign today announced the headline speakers for the 2008 Convention.  The Democratic National Convention will be held in Denver from August 25th through August 28th.

“The 2008 Convention will highlight Americans coming together to change the course of this nation,” said Kansas Governor and Convention Co-Chair Kathleen Sebelius.  “We are at a critical moment in our nation’s history.  The politics and policies that have divided us will not allow us to achieve the change we need.  Barack Obama is a leader to move America in a new direction and bring us together to turn moments of great challenge into moments of great opportunity.  This year’s Democratic Convention is the story of people from across the country who believe it is time for change.”

Sebelius noted that the Convention will use innovative techniques to highlight the people fueling this national movement for change.

“Just as the Obama Campaign uses the energy and passion of grassroots volunteers combined with state-of-the-art technology to bring people into their positive campaign for change, so will the 2008 Convention use the voices of the people through technology and innovative programming to lay out Barack Obama’s vision and policies for how to move America in a new direction,” Sebelius added.

Following today’s announcement of the headline speakers for the four nights of the Convention, the DNCC will unveil additional Convention program details and speakers throughout this week.  Monday through Wednesday’s Convention programs will be held at the Pepsi Center.  Barack Obama will accept the Democratic nomination for President on Thursday, August 28th at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

politisite, I like this story. It's good stuff. I'm sure both party's conventions will try to ban their opponents from staging protests.

Sine the Venue will hold 80K and they have offered tickets to all 50 states now.  The Rocky Mountain News has picked up on something that may happen.  They emailed ma and asked if I was posting the ticket information ad a way to get GOP folks to scoop tickets.  Since my blog is right leaning they thought I may be part of what they are checking into.  I let them know that I post the news from both sides and not part of any staging for a protest.  They have community credentialing... not tickets.  The credentials have a disclaimer that one may be removed for any reason.  So, even if something starts, it would be short in duration.

What about their attempts to ban protests from their own party?

there will be some as an African American group plans to protest as well.  Just like in St. Pete.  Since the venue is so large it will look like a banner at a baseball game.  PUMA will be protesting around the venue.  Some Hillary delegates may cause a floor problem. It will be an interesting convention.  Mikaski is supposed to be there, I am confindent he will provide us some footage

politisite, I like your story. It's good stuff. But don't like the way they are trying to control everything. Even with 'Designated Protest Sites' out of site of the convention venue and the delegates.

Yeah, we're ready for a change. But is this 'Change' they're trying to ram down the throats of all Democrats anything but smoke and mirrors?  It's a  'Sell-out' alright. And what was their price?

I, personally, am choking!

This is common practice at the conventions.  They think the right to protest is down the road several blocks away from where any reporters may pass by.  Obama speaks wanting unity, but if he snubs folks who don't have a voice, what kind of unity i wold that be.

Good grief, did you see the latest? Now they want the Coloradoans to give 6 hours of 'volunteer work' for Obama to get the tickets promised them!
