Cop and assassin executed 24 persons executed, 15 decapitated in Mexico

Two suspects were arrested Thursday and accused of killing 24 men whose bodies were found last month in a rural area outside Mexico City. One of the suspects, Antonio Ramírez Cervantes, is a police commander in Huixquilucan, a suburb of Mexico City where many of the dead men lived, the attorney general’s office said. Officials said the other suspect, Raúl Villa Ortega, confessed to being a member of the Sinaloa drug cartel, one of the largest and most active crime organizations in the country.

The killings come roughly two weeks after tens of thousands of Mexicans marched on the nation's capital calling for greater government action to prevent the wave of violent crime sweeping the country.

Non-governmental groups estimate there have been more than 1,500 killings in Mexico this year linked to organized crime.

Los cuerpos de 24 personas presuntamente de tierra caliente, que bien pudieran tener origen en Michoacán, Guerrero, o Centro América, fueron encontrados ejecutados, con el tiro de gracia y amordazados con cinta canela, en un paraje conocido como La Loma, en el municipio de Ocoyoacac, por rumbos de La Marquesa, en el Estado de México, donde hace algunas semanas se encontraron los cuerpos de agentes federales en condiciones similares.

Saturday, September 13, 2008     MEXICO CITY: The bodies of 24 people killed execution-style have been found near a national park in Mexico state in Mexico, a local prosecutor told foreign media.

"They have been found near a forest known as La Marquesa with their arms tied and with bullet wounds in their heads," said the prosecutor who spoke on condition of anonymity.
