Copper theft may be behind manhole death

This story from Calgary.  Rising cost of copper is resulting in widespread theft of the commodity from electrical and other installations.  Police think the man whose body was found in a Calgary manhole may have been electrocuted while trying to steal copper.   Companies that use copper wiring and pipes are making efforts to l label copper materials with identifying markings.

The man was found just before noon Wednesday when a passerby noticed an uncovered manhole. While police have yet to confirm whether the man was trying to steal wire, or how he died, sources said crews found tools near his body that indicate he was. A witness said he saw wire around the hole.
