Coral Gables High School Stabbing: Juan Carlos Rivera Killed
Juan Carlos Rivera, a high school student in Coral Gables, Florida, was fatally stabbed this morning, September 15, 2009. Authorities quickly responded to the incident while the school was placed on lock down.
Police spokeswoman Janette Frevola said Coral Gables Senior High School was put on lock down Tuesday morning.
Miami-Dade police sent out a news release that said it was responding to the school's address for a "death investigation."
Miami-Dade schools superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho said there had been a stabbing at the school and that someone breached security. He was at the state Board of Education meeting in Miami but had to leave to attend to the incident.

Miami-Dade schools assistant superintendent Enid Weisman said a male student was killed at Coral Gables Senior High School on Tuesday morning. Weisman, who was at a state Board of Education meeting in Miami, says another student is in custody.
Juan Carlos Rivera was a 17 year-old high school sophomore.
