The Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that Secretary of State Jesse White does not need to acknowledge via his signature the letter Gov. Rod Blagojevich used to appoint Roland Burris to the represent the Land of Lincoln in the U.S. Senate.

Delivered by Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier, the ruling in Burris v. White appears to give Burris the “green light” to become the junior senator for Ilinois, replacing Barack Obama.  Only Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his colleagues in the Senate appear to stand in the way of Burris assuming the seat.
