Court revoked treason charges against PAD leaders
Bangkok, Thailand 09 October 2008 (20:30 pm)Court in Bangkok revoked the treason charges against core leaders Chamlong Srimuang and Chaiwat Sinsuwong of the People's Alliance from Democracy (PAD) but will face charges related to the breach of law and order and are to return to the government house to deliver a speech once are released from Bangkok Reprimand Prison. PAD supporters are keeping under siege government house since 26 August 2008 in protest against the Government claiming that they will continue to protest until current government steps down as PAD considers current government to be a puppets of the ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawarta who is in UK in self-imposed exile. This week, PAD protesters surrounded Parliament House during a key policy debate in attempt to enter into parliament grounds but were stopped by the police. Clashes between police and PAD protesters left two dead and several hundred injured when police fired tear gas and smoke grenades to disburse the crowd.
