Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - A court session on a judicial review of the death sentence on Amrozi et al for involvement in the Bali bombings of October 12, 2002, would be held in Denpasar, Bali, on March 24, 2008, a lawyer has said.

"The session is scheduled to take place at the Denpasar district court on Monday (March 24) and the convicts must be present on the occasion," a member of the Muslim Lawyers Team, Fahmi H Bachmid told ANTARA here on Friday.

According to him, the presence of the three convicts in the court session is a must as it is stipulated in the Criminal Code and in accordance with the Supreme Court`s directives.

"If they are not brought to court, we will take a stand. The alternative is that the court session needs to be moved to the Cilacap district court in Central Java to enable them to attend the session," he said.

He said his team had had evidence and witnesses to be brought to the court session.

On January 4, 2008, the families of Amrozi and Ali Ghufron in Tenggulun village, Solokuro subdistrict, Lamongan district, East Java province, refused to accept the copies of the Supreme Court`s note of rejection to the judicial review of their death penalty.

Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, Ali Ghufron and Imam Samudera are now still incarcerated at the Nusakambangan penitentiary, Cilacap district, Central Java province.

When proposing for a judicial review, the Muslim Lawyers Team also proposed that the court session be moved from Denpasar to Cilacap, because holding it in Denpasar may cause psychological pressure on the judges.(*) end
