I have to admit that there are 18 articles on my desktop waiting to be finished or, shall I say, started. But the blank page with title 'Creativity – lost treasure' been sitting in one of the folders for longer than all those from my desktop all together.
Yes, sometimes there were more important things to be written about but other than that can't really say why this one haven't been finished so far.
Firstly I thought that I was wrong with all the idea and then bumped into thought about not having enough evidence. But today, when women are running 1500m for a gold medal in Barcelona I want to put all things together.
As someone brought up in a post Soviet country I got a lot to learn about. Things have changed rapidly as did our minds. But despite all that we had our moments.
For me TV was some sort of thing to be watched while it's been raining outside. Also it was probably the best way to learn about all the different species living in Brazil or Africa or a chance to glance at a good movie.
But now it's a completely different experience. During the years TV became just another thing round the house and time spent watching it increased rapidly.
The first thing for kids to be done in the morning before heading to school is to turn TV on. They don't need anything else just an episode of some Hannah Montana that's been seen for twenty seven times already. And it's no better when everyone gets back home.
Yes, the society went wrong but it's actually the lack of creativity dragging kids into this stage.
Personally haven't been spending a lot time inside during my summer holiday as usually was on my bike or playing with other kids. But the thing was that we knew what to do.
And now try turning at your child and asking to name all the games they know. It won't take long for them to finish.
And that is because kids can't be bothered to do any thinking because a more simple solution is to turn TV on. Or go on internet and just do some clicking.
And that drives me really mad. One of the reasons for all that anger is that kids don't get to enjoy the real fun in the summer. Second – it's the lack of activity during the day. And third – they just don't get a chance to discover the real old fashioned fun.
Or maybe the thing is that there's no need to go old ways to have fun? Yes, a game of cards still sometimes interrupts telly routine as well as throwing ball outside. But other than that there's not a lot more games that kids know about.
There were days when we used to stage our own sports days and think of things to do that won't include sitting in front of screens for hours. From playing with toys to doing crafts or going out and having fun.
But not anymore. There's no more need for remembering that there are toys somewhere in your room or that old board games are picking dusk in wardrobe. Neither they want to stage their own small sports days only because that would take a rather long time and would include too much movement.
But the simple thing about all this is that kids won't experience the same happy childhood that we had. The one we loved and want to bring back. All what they will remember will be TV. And that's not a lot.

to appease majority and achieve the ratings necessary to last you must lower the standard to the lowest common denominator. pap sells. mindless pap is readily consumed. it not just t.v..
