Cricket Live Score: PWI vs KXIP Pepsi IPL 2013 6th T20 Match
Angelo Mathews, the Pune Warriors India captain, won the toss and chose to bat first against Kings XI Punjab at the Subroto Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune on Sunday (April 7).
Pune were hit by the loss of Yuvraj Singh, who was rested due to a back injury, before the match, their second of the Pepsi IPL 2013, following a 22-run loss to SunrisersHyderabad on Friday.
“Even though we were disappointed with our batting, I thought the bowlers bowled really well,” said Mathews of the last match, adding, “I think 140-150 will be a good score on this pitch. It might get slower as the game progresses.”
Pune’s overseas stars remained the same as they had against Hyderabad, with Marlon Samuels, Mitchell Marsh and Ross Taylor joining Mathews in the eleven.
Punjab, led by Adam Gilchrist, were playing their first match in the tournament, and had Azhar Mahmood, Ryan Harris and David Hussey alongwith Gilchrist as their four overseas players.
“I did more prep this season than any other year, and I’ve been here a good couple of weeks here now,” said Gilchrist, who has come into the season without any competitive cricket. “I’m really excited to be back to captain the team and just be a player again. Some of the local youngsters who have come in have really boosted the group and you’ll see one of them making his debut today in Manan Vohra.”
