Crowd Gathers in Sacramento to Protest the Passing of Prop 8

In Sacramento, more than 1,000 marchers took to the streets to protest the passing of Prop 8, the controversial bill that would ban same-sex marriage in the state of California.

According to reports, riot police were on call should tensions escalate. Thus far, however, there has only been a few heated moments between people on both sides of the Prop 8 issue.

The vigil has been mostly peaceful, but a shouting match broke out when a group of "Yes On 8" supporters gathered across the street from the rally.

Shouts for equality can be heard from the "No On 8" supporters.

A group of supporters of "No on 8" have also gathered on the steps of the Capitol.

In San Francisco, hundreds gathered at City Hall to voice their anger at the passing of Prop 8.

Jon Azpiri, I like this story. It's good stuff. I'm really surprised it was passed. After all, California prides itself on its leadership in progressive thinking! Not so this time. I personally am not interested in marriage as an institution but it is time we gays were taken seriously in the equality stakes!

I was there til 12:15am, there were many when I left. Our voices were strong and unified. It was amazing...We do it again tomorrow. We will never stop fighting. This time, we all play for keeps.

I was there today Thursday November,6.

It was So amazing and it was really good to see all the protesters gay,lesbian,bi-sexual...whatever they may be they supported what we think is right and fair.

We should all be equal and people shouldnt judge us by what gender we like its not fair.

well anyways i had lots of fun and hope to do it again.

I wolud like to know when and where there isgoing to be a Prop 8 protest next, i wolud like to go to the next one arround sacramento, i missed the one today :( but i cant wait to support the cause!!! :)
