CSK vs KXIP Live Score - IPL 2013 Match 45 Chennai vs Punjab
Chennai Super Kings elected to bat in their Pepsi Indian Premier League clash against Kings XI Punjab after Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday (May 2).
“It is always difficult for the fast bowlers if it’s a 4pm start,” said Dhoni. “It looks a decent wicket and it won’t change as the game progresses. We’re not looking into getting into the field with a fixed target, we’ll assess how it goes after 10 overs.”
Chennai, who have eight wins from 10 matches, have won six matches on the trot and understandably didn’t tinker with their winning combination. It meant Murali Vijay, who sustained a finger injury last week, was left out while Wriddhiman Saha got another opportunity to impress.
“We’re looking to play good cricket, we don’t want to look at the result as it puts some added pressure,” stated Dhoni.
David Hussey, the Punjab skipper, also said he would have batted first, but hoped his team would be able to restrict a strong Chennai batting line-up. “We would have batted first as well,” said Hussey. “But this is a big game, we beat them last year and hopefully we’ll do the same.”
Punjab made two changes to the side that lost to Mumbai Indians by four runs on Monday. They beefed up their batting line-up with Luke Pomersbach, the Australian, replacing Azhar Mahmood while Manan Vohra made way for R Satish.
