A SIGN OF THE TIMES,  LITERALLY:

Apparently, the Culture Wars in America have turned deadly serious for some.

In the state of Missouri,  a group of Republicans have posted a billboard which reads,  "Prepare for War:  Live Free or Die!".

From Dispatches from the Culture Wars:
And they're quite proud of doing so, announcing it on their blog. The Lafayette County, MO Republicans have put up a billboard calling for revolution. And the banner on the billboard says "PREPARE FOR WAR--LIVE FREE OR DIE!"

A  great analysis of this sign from the left point of view.

SMK: Thanks so much for this post! lol! I get a great big kick out of stuff like this! And what really floats my boat is the reaction that some people have to implicit threats of violence on the part of right-wingers . . . .

Unfortunately the low begets both sides.  Whatever happened to civil debate.  These politicians would rather slander each other than to discuss issues.  I guess that's easier,  you have to explain yourself in a debate.

Interesting.  I think maybe we canadians better prepare to defend our borders and take in the strays who don't want to play along!

anarkissed: Not to worry! The boys are just having some fun and expressing their frustrations! What better way to do it than in a billboard. This kind of stuff goes on all the time. Prior to Obama's election a bunch of crackers got together here in Florida and erected the world's largest Confederate Flag right next to the interstate. It's a hoot to drive by it!

HA! I can hardly wait for the games to begin! These are certainly interesting times here in America. Things there for awhile  were really boring and uneventful. Thank you President Obama for all that you've done to liven things up!

I second it,  Rory,  I say down with a world that gives freedoms and leaves us to boredom.  And Roy, yes, let the reaping begin...

SMK: I appreciate the freedom to be bored! But I appreciate the freedom to be stimulated by political and sociological events much more. America is a fascinating and interesting country--it always has been. Dissent and the freedom that the U.S. constitution allows is a wonderful thing in my opinion. Without it, the purple mountains and the sea to shining sea, and the oceans white with foam, would perhaps flow red with the blood of tyrants, politicians, and citizens alike.

That is a darned good answer,  Minchio!

"by any means necessary".   Those are fighting words, as Mr. X intended them to be.  and now violence will be "from each according to his ability,  to each according to his needs".

Scary part is, some types have guns, some have a lot of guns, some aren't the playing at making revolution types from the 60's.

When, if, it starts, it could get beyond ugly.

Hugh: I bet there's a lot of those types in your neck of the woods! Run Gordy run! lol!

Think them there types tend more towards the South - Southeast.  Some seem to be 'most normal, others, 'special thems from the big city, is just plain unhinged from years a dealin' with the un-normalities of the city. ;)
