Cursory Lip Service: A Wider Conspiracy?

Cursory Lip Service: A Wider Conspiracy?

Reasonable doubt continues to exist related to the eligibility of United States president-in-waiting, former junior Illinois State Senator Barack Obama, to assume the Office of United States President.

Currently, there are 17 lawsuits in 12 states that are challenging the eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to become the next President of the United States based, in part, on the true circumstances of his birth. These circumstances include his actual place of birth as well as his status as a naturalized citizen. The latest lawsuit was filed by Alan Keyes, a Presidential candidate in the 2008 election. Documents in PDF format available at this link.

Nonetheless, the corporate media, including the majority of right-wing conservative talk show hosts, continue to dismiss this issue as irrelevant or give this matter only cursory lip service to satisfy the minority of Americans who still care about the rule of law. From Blog commentators to officials elected to uphold and protect the rule of law, the prevailing opinion appears to be that Obama’s eligibility is not a legitimate issue for rational people. The issue represents nothing more than sour political grapes, a red herring, or a distraction from the larger issues.

The simple fact that this entire controversy could be forever put to rest by Obama simply providing a legitimate copy of his true birth certificate. Instead, he has chosen to fight such a release at every turn, using, among others, an attorney associated with the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Deeper research and investigation into this matter finds that the staging for the defense of the eligibility question appears to have been addressed by a contingent of lawmakers earlier this year in the form of Congressional Resolution 511, a resolution co-sponsored by Obama himself.

Under the guise of putting to rest any objection to Senator John McCain’s eligibility to become our nation’s President because he was born outside of the U.S., the media fell all over themselves by as they praised Obama's sense of fair play as illustrated by such headlines and articles as: Obama Backs Law That Aids McCain, (Washington Post, March 1, 2008) and Clinton, Obama Agree: McCain’s a “Natural Born Citizen” (Wall Street Journal, April 11, 2008)

Closer scrutiny of this resolution, however, finds that the resolution actually was expanded far beyond what was necessary to merely apply to Senator McCain: it was expanded to include naturalized citizens, which ironically was the “cause of death” for this resolution.

Indeed, there is a much larger (dare I say) conspiracy afoot, one that threatens the security of the United States as much as al Qaeda and all of our foreign enemies combined. It is the enemy from within.

Conspiracy or Coup d'Etat?

We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

Paschen, it seems you changed your initial comment? Nevertheless, thank you for commenting again. I would like to note here the following quote: "Citizenship is every person's highest calling." --- Ambassador Walter H. Annenberg

Yes I edited it after I read the link given by BC and was thinking it may not be appropriate to call it a Watergate after all.

Factcheck.org parades as a fact checking site..  This site is nothing more then an apologist site for Obama

Thank you Paschen and Blue Crush for reading, commenting, the link, and the recommend. I would just like to add (before the issue is raised) that it seems Factcheck.org is not owned by Annenberg, it is however funded by the Anneberg Foundation, who also funds the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.

This issue is either not an issue or it has been taken care of.  Nevertheless, it seems every political event of historical magnitude since the 60s has generated a never-ending conspiracy tail like the meteor showers that trail former comets as dusty asteroids and sometimes flash into brief light as shooting stars.

Good write-up Rhonda.  Most of these lawsuits are being thrown out.  I am not sure why Alan Keyes  put in a law suit maybe it is because Obama beat him so badly.  I have briefly looked over some of these suits and see little merit to them.  If there is some proof that he was born outside of the country.. that would be an impeachment offense.

I see that Factcheck.org has taken a large interest in this case... well of course.. no one is willing to say what they really are.. an Obama Apologist group.  They don't fact check.  Anyone who reads the site can see that the arguments they make are laughable.  I get their news letter which is always correcting the record for Obama,  never McCain or other candidates.  I can't believe folks take them seriously.

Heck, I can inc. online in twenty minutes with some form of Annenberg and folks will equate me with the greater group.  It is sad to see folks online use them as a source.

I don't see any of the cases making it to court

Does any of this actually matter?  If he were not eligible to run for the presidency, surely he would have been disqualified at the start?  I imagine that when anyone fills in the necessary papers, they have to provide proof of citizenship!

Hi gerrypopplestone! Thank you for reading, commenting and for the recommend. It only matters if President-elect Obama is trying to hide place of birth or citizenship. I'm not saying this is the case here, but documents could be falsified to "provide proof of citizenship." I think it is the case that it happens more often that we realize.

Fact:  He travelled to Pakistan with an Indonesian passport (which means he denied his American citizenship at some time).  He has (at least) dual-citizenship (if not three including Kenyan possibly), and most people either don't know or don't care.  His birth certificate doesn't matter much anymore because in any scenario he isn't eligible.... including Hawaiian law at the time of his birth.

but i suppose a tri+citizenship leader should be the one hasten the creation of a world government.

side-note:  i'm not worried about him being a "secret muslim".  he doesn't believe in God.

lefty_liberated, thank you very much for reading and commenting. The whole point of this story is to highlight "...the corporate media, including the majority of right-wing conservative talk show hosts, [who] continue to dismiss this issue as irrelevant or give this matter only cursory lip service to satisfy the minority of Americans who still care about the rule of law."

If you haven't already, you might want to read, NP Author Karen Hatter's story, "U.S. Supreme Court Decides Whether to Hear Obama Birth Certificate Lawsuit."

Thanks again!
