NP Rank:
Dad charged for assaulting bully: Assaults at Daughter
Barry Artiste Op.Ed
You know after multiple meetings with police, school officials, parents, and still the assaults continue, what Dad would not go "Berzerker" on a group of Male teens? This Father did what any Father did, to protect his child, possibly fearing if this continued his child would commit suicide over being constantly bullying, and now all of the sudden Police act! Against the Father., There is no Justice!
BOWMANVILLE -- Dave Clarke lost it Monday night. But the angry family man now charged with assaulting a 15-year-old pleads guilty with an explanation.
And under the circumstances, what would you have done?
The 45-year-old father of two has been closely following our recent series of stories on bullying. Like hundreds of other readers, these tales have struck a chord because his daughter Heather has been going through months of harassment by a group of kids at Bowmanville High School.
Clarke has been in and out of meetings with the school's administration and even had a sit-down with the police to address his concerns. One of the teens involved has been suspended twice, once for lying in wait for his daughter and whipping a handful of coins at her head.

Man, I know my dad would and I would only respect him even more for it. Yes, there are times when one just has to take justice into his/ her own hands.

What other choice did the father have, since he tried to work within the system only to be met with inaction and indifference? His daughter continued to be the target of assaults upon her person. He did what most normal protective human beings are supposed to do--protect his young.

Why can't they prosecute these people under the stalker laws?

Hit her in the head with a roll of coins? Jail time. At least six months. Better a year.
The teachers have no balls and little spine and are basically Big Nurses plying smother mother pseudo-solutions to bullying.
You have to exercise power and counter-intimidate the bully. All this (in this case) lefty comprehension of wrongdoers is the real problem.
I am on the father's side. If the law fails to protect, he is morally obligated to take action. Suspended sentence and he should sue the school district and the family of the bully.

Bravo Dad.
These young lads need to have their brains rewired to instill some empathy for others.
They need to feel hurt to understand hurt. In this case, if it was me, they would feel physical hurt.

I would have done the same without a thought.

I totally agree.
Unfortunately, our justice system gives the impression it doesn't seem to be interested in the victims. The 'bad guys' are always the ones that get consideration.
Things need to change! But what? Us and our concerns about unfair and unrealistic treatment? Or THE JUSTICE SYSTEM? (the laws appear to be on the books to protect the innocent........... but the judicial system seems to have difficulty in applying them.)

Interesting how the bullying of these kids brings out bullying behaviour in others.Kids who bully are generally fearful scared kids underneath, whose lives are out of control, their control. You need to look to their parenting, many don't seem to know how to go about it.
Once if a kid was bullied the parents went round to see the other parents and they got it sorted without need for police, the law, school intervention.Kids who get bullied need to learn how not to be bullied by someone who knows, without the additional difficulties that come when adults don't know how to behave like adults.

wow, he just 'shoved' the kid, and then they made a truce and made up? Looks like the soccer team is going to be the big loser here, since Dad will no longer be able to coach them.
talk about unforseen consequences.
