Dale Neumann was found guilty of second-degree reckless homicide for the death of his daughter, Madeline Kara Neumann, in Wisconsin on August 1, 2009. His wife Leilani Neumann was found guilty of the same in May 2009.

Madeline Kara Neumann was ill with untreated diabetes, and the Neumanns believed that "sickness is caused by sin and can be cured by God". As a result, her parents prayed for God to heal their daughter rather than bringing her to a doctor or seeking any medical help or advice.

Leilani Neumann was a witness in Dale Neumann's trial.

The mother testified that she realized her daughter was seriously ill on March 22, 2008, the day before Madeline died. She says she was worried because the girl was pale and weak. The mother testified she could not remember hearing the girl speak clearly.

The verdict was delivered by a jury in Marathon County, Wisconsin. Both Dale and Leilani Neumann will be sentenced in October 2009, for up to 25 years in prison.
