Dalia Dippolito, currently accused of hiring a hitman to murder her husband, Michael Dippolito, met him while working as an escort, according to Michael Dippolito.

In a sworn statement to police, Michael Dippolito said he met Dalia Dippolito when she came to his office after he called her in a professional capacity. They started dating after that, and were married in four months.

Subsequently, Dalia Dippolito tried to have him arrested, then turned to a friend to help her hire a hitman to kill Michael Dippolito; the friend turned her in to police. After she was arrested following a sting operation in which Michael was involved, Dalia called him up to ask him to hire her a lawyer.

She wanted him to hire her a lawyer, she said. And in a 10-minute conversation that followed, she tried to convince him that the plot detectives had accused her of — buttressed with several secret video recordings, recorded phone calls and an elaborate staged murder scene — was all a lie.

It didn't work.
