Danbury Hospital in Connecticut was the scene of a crime today when an elderly patient shot and wounded a nurse who was trying to subdue the patient after he was aiming his gun at someone else.
The nurse will be fine and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but according to the Danbury News Times newspaper, the patient also accidentially shot himself after shooting the nurse. There is no word on the patient's identity or why or how he had a gun in the hospital in the first place. He was being treated in the hospital for a heart ailment.
Danbury Hospital officials say they're continuing to admit and treat patients. The 12-floor hospital has nearly 400 beds and 4,000 employees.
The mayor of Danbury has called the nurse 'an absolute hero' reports the Associated Press.
