Danielle Pickens Killed by Evelyn Burgess: Skimpy Easter Outfit
Danielle Pickens Shot To Death Over Skimpy Easter Outfit
19-year-old Danielle Pickens was shot in the head by her 42-year-old second cousin Evelyn Burgess over a skimpy Easter outfit.
Ralinda Pickens, the sister of Danielle Pickens, told the Associated Press that her sister was involved in an argument with Evelyn Burgess over the skimpy style of outfit the young girl was wearing to Easter dinner.
Ralinda Pickens said that her sister Danielle often wore skimpy short skirts and shorts to family gatherings but that on Sunday she wore jean shorts and a T-shirt to the family Easter dinner.
Police were called to the address of 1662 Manchester Avenue in Columbus Ohio, which is the address of Evelyn Burgess, and found Danielle Pickens outside with a gunshot wound to her head. Evelyn Burgess reportedly followed the teenager outside after the argument and shot her in the head. Danielle Pickens died at Riverside Methodist Hospital at 2am on April 6.
Evelyn Burgess has been charged with one count of murder.
Franklin County Municipal Court Judge William Pollitt set Burgess' bond at $500,000 during a court appearance Tuesday.
Neither Evelyn Burgess nor her husband Kevin Burgess have commented on the incident. It is not known how the argument started or why it escalated to that point. Clearly Danielle Pickens was walking away from the scene and leaving when the shooting took place as she was shot in the back of the head.

Families can be very strange organizations. When you mix in easy access to firearms, it's easy to see arguments get out of hand.
