Danmell Ndonye: Hofstra University Student Recants Gang Rape

Danmell Ndonye, the Hofstra University student, recanted her gang rape story last night and said that although it did happen, it was consensual.

She claimed that she was gang raped in a bathroom by five men after dancing with one of them at a club, he took her cell phone, and when she followed him, he and a friend tied her up, raped her, and then called three other friends to rape her as well.

After she recanted her story, a night court hearing was held and the four men who had been arrested were released.

"I'm very relieved," one of the exonerated men, Rondell Bedward, a 21-year-old Hofstra student from the Bronx who worked for campus security, told Channel 11 News.

The other three men were Stalin Felipe, Jesus Ortiz and Kevin Taveras.

"I'm just happy to be free," Felipe said.

The woman is an 18-year-old Hofstra student and reported on Sunday night what had allegedly happened to her.

All the four men who were arrested had been charged with five counts of first-degree rape and would have been jailed for 25 years if convicted. A fifth man was still being sought in the crime.

Danmell Ndonye has not been charged.

"The woman has not been charged."., but maybe it is time we started charging these women.

The Inquisitions in Europe, the Witch Trials, began after the penalty for lying was thrown out and outside prosecutors who didn't know the people involved were brought in.

Lying must be considered a crime and punished.

I add that the young men involved here are disgusting and complete idiots without a thought to the safety of the woman or to their own, legal and otherwise.

Your last line doesnt make sense.Sex is not disgusting, its natural and enjoyable and quite safe done right. Gangbangs are common and safe.What did they do that made you think they did not consider the safety of the woman, that is, what was considered so unsafe?How dare you judge them just because they do something you dont like. They shouldnt have to wonder whether this willing woman will end up being a liar before they have a good time with her.Thats like saying you shouldnt get on a plane at all because an accident might happen, despite that being extremely miniscule and it still being one of the fastest ways to travel.

Checked her pics on MySpace. Damn shame cuz her mood says Virginal. But then again her last check in was 7/31/09. As a woman in law enforcement I'm very disappointed by this young lady's decision to Lie and ruin the reputation of four men. Now, their behavior to have some sort of "group sexual experience" should teach both men and women a lesson to protect yourselves emotionally/criminally/physically. I believe the young lady should be prosecuted. Had the video not surfaced these men may have faced up to 25yrs in jail for a crime of stupidity and not a crime of rape. Fathers hug your daughters and teach your sons better.
