Washington, DC – The Museum of American History reopened to the public after a 2 year renovation. General Colin Powell (Ret.) read the Gettysburg Address to the assemblage while costumed figures from history circulated through the crowd.
A vintage cannon was fired to celebrate the re-opening. As people covered their ears anticipating a second firing, one of the cannoneers jokingly advised the crowd that due to budget cuts the Smithsonian could only afford the one firing.

Thanks for the post. I've never visited so I'd love to hear about the exhibits.

I might make it to the exhibits tomorrow. Nearby, the Canadian Embassy will be holding a craft fair and wine tasting. Then in the evening there will be projections on the Museum of American History as FotoWeek DC concludes.
