DC: Condo Conversion RIP?
Forest Hills, DC – By an unofficial vote count of 115 to 1 the Brandywine Tenants Association, Inc. membership voted to support the proposal by William C. Smith & Co. of DC to purchase the 10 story Brandywine Apartment building and to continue operating it as an apartment building.
Disclosure: I live in the Brandywine Apartments.
Based on an unofficial vote count Inveniam LLC of Miami, Florida lost in its bid to purchase the building for subsequent condo conversion. Inveniam LLC planned to offer residents $500 per unit to move out. Inveniam received 1 vote.
The Brandywine Tenants Association, Inc. represents a majority of the 305 units in the Brandywine Apartments.
Is condo conversion in DC dead?

Interesting story re: an upper Connecticut Avenue legend. Thanks for posting. Does Smith vow to operate it as an apartment for a certain amount of years? Or forever?

William C. Smith agrees to remain rental for a minimum of 10 years.
