Washington, DC: This was a busy afternoon for emergency workers. The Red Line Station at Woodley Park was the scene of an apparent elevator rescue by firefighters in shorts carrying pry bars.  Later on, 2 stations north at the Van Ness Station firefighters were walking around the station carrying their fire fighting equipment. These stations being just a few feet away from busy Connecticut Avenue snarled traffic with all the emergency vehicles parked on the street. Just 2 blocks north of the the Van Ness Station at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Albemarle Street a 2 car accident apparently in the "rush hour" suicide lanes (a.k.a. reversible lanes) added to commuter delays.
