The inquest jury into the de Menezes trial ruled today that police failings contributed to the Brazilian man's death from being shot at Stockwell tube station after the 7/7 bombings.

The inquest has been on for 12 weeks, and is supposed to have cost 6 million pounds.

A lawyer representing de Menezes’s family called on Friday for a separate perjury investigation after the jury’s rejection of several aspects of police officers’ sworn account of the shooting.

The 27-year-old electrician’s family has vowed to press forward with a legal challenge to the coroner’s controversial decision to ban an unlawful killing verdict.
