Dear President Obama: You've Lost My Vote
There was a saying during the stimulus phase of the President's policy that "we are all Keynesians now." Well, in light of the events and the President folding easier than a road map, during the debt ceiling negotiations, I'd say we are all Republicans now.
The "agreement" worked out by the Senate is not the balanced approach that President Obama insisted on. It is made up entirely of cuts, with no revenues. The deal will hit those least able to afford the sacrifice hard-est, will not include any relief for the unemployed, and dare I say, it will most likely worsen the economy for quite some time. We will see if the Senate has the votes to pass this shit sandwich, or will some radical threaten to filibuster the deal until more steaming turds are piled on the heap? There is still a glimmer of hope that the Tea Party Republicans in the House won't support the deal on ideological grounds. (It doesn't cut Medicare and Social Security.) This means that Speaker Boehner will need the support of Democrats to pass the bill. Give the Republicans credit for knowing full well, that the reasonable, sensible members of the House will not let the government default by voting against the proposed legislation. Maybe, just maybe someone in the Senate or the House of Representatives will show enough courage to pull the trigger and say no more hostage taking.
