Death Threats, Security Concerns Raised By Members of Congress

Congressional Democrats Meet With Capital Police Over Security Concerns. The FBI is also investigating.

Democratic members of Congress were so concerned, after receiving death threats since the passage of the health care bill, that a group meet with Capital Police in Washington on Weddesday.
House majority leader Steny Hoyer said at least 10 Democratic members of Congress have serious concerns over security after receiving threats. Capital Police briefed members of congress on how to handle security concerns During a media briefing CNN is reporting
Rep.Hoyer said the ferocity of the anger directed towards members of Congress is unacceptable.
"Our democracy is about participation, animated passionate debate but it is not about violence."-  
The opposition to Health Care Reform has been passionate from the Tea Party or Tea Baggers while some say the opposition to the Health Care Bill has crossed the line and has become hateful.
On the eve of the passage of the health care bill Democratic members of Congress were subject to hateful taunts including "n**ger and f**got. 
Among the members of Congress who have received death threats are Rep. Louise Slaughter and Rep Bart Stupak. 
Meanwhile, the FBI is investigating a cut gas line connected to the home of the brother of Rep Tom Perriello after two Tea Party supporters from Danville Lynchburg, Virginia posted the address online of Rep. Perriello - an address that was in fact for Rep. Perriello's brother's house.

Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said "The one thing we know silence gives consent."

Democrats are calling on Republicans to step up and denounce the calls for violence from Tea Party supporters and others who have been particularly strident in their opposition to health care reform.

It can be argued that media's obsession with the Tea Party and with the radical fringe has only fueled the intensity of the animosity towards health care reform.
