America's problem and other countries around the world is that they promote the memory lane of veterans who died in previous wars, as they are given the respect and dignity by their government in fighting and dying for their country. Politicians place more value on War machines than on the concept of Nonviolence. This ideal is what keeps War machines modern and and up to date to keep politics in a constant defining battle between military building vs. the concept of Nonviolence. We wouldn't be where we are today if John and Jane Doe GI didn't fight for this country. We would all be speaking German or Japanese or Iraqi's language today.
Most government serving people think military soldiers who died in fighting an enemy are more honorable than people who support Nonviolence. They give medals of valor and recognition to the men and women who are said to do courageous acts on the battle field in defending their platoon/squadron for America . They are recognized for their achievements and duty to the Constitution as American GI's. The soldiers in American uniforms are paid money from US taxpayers to do their jobs.
Yet people who also defend America and are not soldiers and don't carry guns, but carry the truth and the weapon of Nonviolence are thrown in Prison, mocked and ridiculed, never given medals of valor and recognition for their service and bravery in absorbing the blows of violence. Nonviolent activists have even died and gave their life for the sole expression of promoting nonviolence. On top of that they are not given taxpayer dollars for their service and bravery and efforts in working toward eliminating War and stopping the violence. Military Soldiers with guns have actually gunned down Nonviolent Activist men and women and civilians in the cause and name for their belief in winning a War. Do we know how many have died at the hands of the Military Soldiers? Lots of innocent people perished in Japan when the Atomic Bomb was used twice. Certainly a whole village was wiped out in Mai Lai in Vietnam, but I think a lot more innocent people than that died in Vietnam. Woops lets not forget Dresden and Tokyo in the Phosphorus bombing Campaign. And let's not forget John McCain and the School of innocent Kids he wiped out. I heard he is now running for President is that right? And thousands of innocent families died in Iraq from American weapons sold to Saddam, and more than thousands of innocent families perished by the delivery and execution from American weapons used by Americans to wage a lying war about Weapons of Mass Destruction.
What is it that we don't understand about the duty and neglect we display toward the people who do their jobs in supporting Nonviolence? They die everyday by the hands and guns of the Military Soldiers. We don't honor them to include those innocent families American Soldiers killed in Iraq. We don't keep track of who died, or know their names. They have names, because their mothers and fathers gave them one.
We have more concern to the American Soldier who is injured than the massive grove of bodies that fill a ditch. American soldiers will not die in vain says GW Bush, so what is he saying? He is saying that the innocent people who have died and die everyday who support Nonviolence should die in Vain instead. Because if he admitted that military soldiers get away with murder he would theoretically lose his job wouldn't he? Probably not, because America has such a twisted view of what Law and protecting human rights are all about. Never mind thinking about Impeachment. Never mind thinking that a person who supports Nonviolence actually has a tougher job than any military soldier, because they make a commitment to not kill other people. They die everyday on the job, and are simply forgotten. More Nonviolent people have fallen in this recent war in Iraq, than the 4,000+ soldiers, yet we are to remember the soldiers instead?
Why is that?
We have American leaders who support Nonviolence who have died and have been assassinated for the cause of Nonviolence. The question then becomes who do we dishonor, vs. who do we honor? Do we dishonor the soldiers who fought in Wars, or dishonor Nonviolent activists or innocent civilians who were killed in trying to stop and prevent War? It is clear in my mind that the Nonviolent people, whether they are leaders or innocent civilians hold more of an identity and authentic duty to a Nations Allegiance in Patriotism and its identity than Military Soldiers willing to fight at the command for angry leaders. Yet our money goes toward the anger and to the gunners and marksmen, and War instead of to the Nonviolent Activist Soldiers or innocent people that carry no guns, or intent to harm other people.
My answer to this battle of the wills to National identities toward respect of the two is that War has always been a loser, has always proved nothing except the ability to kill, and to do more of it. Its only purpose essentially is to come out of the tunnel of wars end, which they claim they want to win the peace, is in itself a Nonviolence credential and goal.
War is unable to achieve its goal since War equates only to more war. On the otherhand the practice of Nonviolence in the fields of War accomplishes the favor for Nonviolence since the people who use Nonviolence die willingly for the cause. Who is braver or more distinquished is the person of Nonviolence, since he/she carrys no gun, or wishes no harm upon perceived enemies. This is one of the main reasons these great men came into the world such as Gandhi, Rev. King and Jesus. They came into the world to educate men on how we should cope with each other while living on earth.
The honoring of Veterans of War does not bring honor to a nation. This type of honor needs to realize that those Veterans will be honored in the light that we don't want to do what they have gone through, because what they did.. is not end War.
In fact if Nonviolence was practiced or really known in those times, those soldiers would be spending happy times with their grandchildren today. Really Nonviolence initially began during the time of Mahandas Gandhi and was a new social development in finding means to deal with violence. 1947 saw the Independence of India, which is a time frame after the years of struggle Gandhi endured. So thinking WWI and WWII knew about this concept is certainly not true. Especially since so many Americans have forgotten the great courage and sacrifice of Rev. Martin Luther King in ending the Vietnam War. He too was assassinated, and the message is clear today. That being, his death was orchestrated to forget about him as done to Gandhi's struggle so more wars could be orchestrated as we have today. Not many people to include our President and Presidential candidates wish to associate with the ideals of Gandhi and Rev. King. Its a tragedy, especially from the distancing maneuvers Obama has done with his Pastor.
Certainly the War powers in the world would have nothing to do with Nonviolence as they were successful in assassinating Mahandas and Rev. King. One can only speculate that the British had a hand in it, when a radical Hindu who had the same religion as Gandhi shot him in cold blooded murder. As we also know the conspiracy to kill Rev. King was more than a fluncky named James Earl Ray. Rev. King actually met the Gandhi family in 1959, and it had a great affect on him in his belief and position in using the precepts of Nonviolence.
It is also an idea that War promoters in those days were not smart enough to realize that Nonviolence is the greatest weapon to mankind. It is more powerful than all the atomic bomb arsenals in the world. And yet people who live in the United States who claim to be a Christian Nation have no concept of that, when they follow angry directions of hate exhumed from the body personification of GW Bush! They seize the present anger and follow toward War, without thinking about the real meaning to National Identity from the result of any War is continued suffering for all peoples.
It's why Jesus came to show us. God did not create the military, man did. Jesus nullifies the old testament, which is full of war....because War never brought relief to the people. It always assembled another time for a new battlefield.
Veterans will refute this, but Jesus has defined this already. It is why we give much respect to him, and leaders such as Mahandas Gandhi, Rev. Martin Luther King, and others. That is.. we supporters of Nonviolence give them the respect, while the people who support war will readily spat and stomp on the efforts of people who support Nonviolent action. Why because they can not face the fact they are wrong.
Make no mistake the divide in America is between the Military establishment and its gun violent culture which has been predominately a white race characteristic, verses the Nonviolence Movement that was represented by Rev. King, and now by other black authorities such as Rev. Wright, Rev. Jackson, and Rev. Sharpton. There are many white people who follow the concept of Nonviolence so in this respect perhaps Obama is right that there is no white or black America. But the fact that Obama identifies himself with the Military ideals of America proves how out of step he is to Black American culture and the struggle of Rev. Martin Luther King in bringing America to its awareness for the ideals of Nonviolence..
I simply want the American people to know the real struggle that is going on in the world. In the end are we to honor militaries and veterans, or honor Nonviolence and the people who work day and night with the concept for Nonviolent action throughout the world?
Really the definition of the State is a group that supports military power. Israel has such a State, being supported by the biggest military power in the world the USA. Israel also has the Atomic Bomb.
Palestine on the other hand is not a Military State, although it has small arms and shoulder rocket missiles as its big stick. In the event that Palestine does become a State there is going to be arguments in allowing it to develop its military. Do you really think Israel is going to allow this? Not a chance. The idea that Palestine will become a State is foolish rhetoric, in todays world of terror and argument.
The other reality is that Israel's State will be dissolved to become a NonState in joining the Palestinian territory. This is the example of how India succeeded in beridding Britain from its borders through the teachings and works of Nonviolence. Although India became two bodies, India and Pakistan at the bedevil of British interest; Israel and Palestine will have an opposite effect. In fact this approach is more to the teachings of Jesus Christ who is the main centerpiece and purpose to Jerusalem, and the Middle East.
In the end of whatever end that may occur, the fact is heaven is a nonstate, or territory that has a nonviolent concept. Truely Israel will be wiped off the face of the map due to acts of Nonviolence, because of their violent nature in preserving the State of Militarism.
When Nonviolence fully exerts its presense and War is abolished for the sake of realizing that this is the condition of peace and the passage Jesus showed us when he was here; Israel will no longer want militarism identification and its Statehood will be nullified.
Israel will join the Palestinian Territories and peace will ensue. The only real recognition of Israel will be its name in history and its Institutional structure, but its State will no longer be their wrongly thought necessary military camp. This truth is in todays definition of the State. Whether the definition changes in the future where State means a nonmilitary establishment, will hold a new conference to how peaceful territories recognizes border alignments. In all respects to assure no disagreements, States will become territories to assure the military State is never reorganized.
How this plays out in the United States certainly depends on how we as a people work toward shaping the Nonviolence Political Agenda. If we sit on our hands like the past 40 years and allow the War machine to take advantage of our Nonviolent Activist people and do not support Rev. King, such as Obama is doing today....I can only think of how War will destroy more and more and more.
Somehow and someway we need not a wall in Washington DC that honors those who died in Vietnam but we need an awareness Institute such as The International Institute of Nonviolence to commence work in building a Sanctuary and Honorary Memorial for people who have died from the hands of the Military Empire. This means getting the names of all the people who have have been killed domestically and abroad to develop more than a National Cemetary, but a National Commitment to seek and honor Nonviolence as a means to Worldly Affairs. Without it we are lost as a people.
