Delaware says "No" to Killing Brain Damaged Woman
Great news for Lauren Richardson and her father, as he fights for her life! Delaware, the first state, passed a resolution supporting the right to life for this disabled U.S. citizen! This must be quite a blow for health insurance companies that stand to benefit from Americans embracing the idea that people who are sick beyond the expectation of recovery should be STARVED TO DEATH, regardless of whether or not the patients have any say in their death sentences. Stand down organ harvesters! Lauren just may be keeping hers a while longer.
Question: Why does it seem to always be WOMEN who must be able to prove they are in a state of health to avoid being killed for reason of their disabilities (out of compassion, of course)?

Delaware Passes Resolution Supporting Lauren Richardson
The Delaware House of Representatives has passed a resolution in support of protecting the life of Lauren Richardson, who like Terri Schiavo before her, is the subject of a bitter court fight over removing her feeding tube. The resolution states:
This Resolution establishes protections for mentally disabled individuals in the State of Delaware. The impetus for this Resolution comes from the case of Lauren Richardson.

Lauren faces EXTERMINATION FOR IRRELEVANCE DUE TO BRAIN DAMAGE. Congratulations to Delaware House of Representatives for its determination that mental dysfunction should not be an excuse for killing disabled citizens. See Laruen's story at this link: http://lifeforlauren.org/index.html.

Only in a society that undervalues human life and has departed from godly principles can the Kevorkian attitude prevail. If Americans realized that there really IS a Holy God, our doctors, judges, and elected officials would not see it as necessary to make life and death decisions themselves, but rather, they would feed and care for the sick and leave life and death up to Him alone. Then we would not have such tragedies as the euthanasias at Memorial Hospital in New Orleans, with the grand jury refusing to indict (http://docisinblog.com/index.php/2007/08/26/memorial-euthanasia-update/), my own mentally ill brother's euthanasia in Shelby County Jail (http://wrongfuldeathoflarryneal.com), the death and abuses of other mental patients ( http://braxtonandfriends.org/index.html ), another parent battling in court for the right to feed his daughter instead of having her starve to death for reason of her disability and the starvation of Terri Schiavo while her family begged for her life to be spared. These are only a few examples of how we, like Adam and Eve before us, have determined that we will be our own God.

Thanks so much, Caoimhin1. Thanks for reading the article and flagging it. A wise man wrote, "We all face disabilities sooner or later, if we live long enough."

More good news: Update/Press Release November 19, 2008:
Delaware woman’s parents now in agreement:their daughter must live
ADF attorneys representing father reach settlement with mother,
who now agrees that 24-year-old disabled daughter should live
WILMINGTON, Del. — Alliance Defense Fund attorneys have reached a favorable settlement in a lawsuit that had pitted father against mother over the life of their 24-year-old daughter who suffers from severe brain injury. Because of relig ious conviction and heartfelt interaction with her ex-husband’s family, the mother of Lauren Richardson decided to join cooperatively with Richardson’s father to care for their daughter and to drop her court request to remove Richardson’s feeding tube and water.
