Indian capital New Delhi continues to be in the grip of  the Cold weather conditions with the minimum temperature down to 6.4 degrees Celsius.

Christmas turned out to be a chilly affair for Delhiites, who donned extra woollens after the minimum temperature to lowest in five years.

This is the second time this December that the minimum temperature has dropped below normal, the last time being December 13, when the minimum temperature touched 6.7 degrees.

After hovering around the eight-degree mark in past few days, the mercury has plummeted to the season's lowest of 6.4 degrees Celsius this morning, Met Department said.

The maximum temperature yesterday was recorded at 24.5 degree Celsius, which was one degree above the normal for the season.

Earlier, Delhi experienced the season's lowest on December 13 when the mercury plummeted to 6.7 degrees Celsius.

The Met department has predicted a bright and clear sky for the day with mist or shallow fog enveloping the national capital at night.

The weatherman said the minimum temperature is likely to remain around seven degrees in the coming days due to the arrival of northerly winds while maximum will be at 24 degrees Celsius.
