Senator Boxer Demeans General over Ma'am "title" - "Call me Senator, I've earned it!"

California Senator Boxer scolded a General for calling her Ma'am yesterday.  She related to the General that she should be identified as "Senator" as she worked so hard to get that title.  Senator Boxer must be unaware that under military protocol anyone who outranks you is called, "sir or Ma'am".  Interesting enough Senator Boxer did not refer to him as "General" in the rebuke.  It should be noted as well that the General also called Male senators Sir.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) opined Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) demanding a general to call her "Senator" at a hearing yesterday.

Mr. DeMint called Mrs. Boxer "a loose cannon."

"For her to try to embarrass him in front of the public -- I just can't put up for that kind of thing -- if people think too much of themselves," he said.

He added that "ma'am" is "the highest title" -- higher than senator or congressman.

Ms Boxer should leave her personal feelings in a drawer rather than wear them on a sleeve.  As a Senator she represents all of the people in her state.  Last I heard there were a few 1000 Marines in her jurisdiction.

So Ma'am please show some respect for those you ship off to defend you.  I'm sure the Brigadier-General worked long and hard to get his title too and he probably earned it.

Wow. When Bagdad Jim calls you out on your patriotism... It's time to reevaluate your life.

That's like Stevie Wonder calling you short-sighted.

Boxer is lacking in emotional intelligence. Even if correct, her tone was wrong. He meant no offense.

In the UK, I have heard that the term, "ma'am" can only be used when addressing Queen Elizabeth.

Boxer's problem, I would guess, was that real feelings of inferiority were aroused in her, and I say that she should deal with them as the general was not the source of the irritation.

I have addressed females of the Royal Family as Ma'am.  That term is perfectly appropriate.  I think Boxer has illusions of grandeur.

The arrogance of our public officials astounds me.  Who does Barbara Boxes think she is anyway, and who does she think pays her salary.  I am personally offended by her disregard and disrespect for a high ranking member of oour Armed Forces.  Someone please stuff a sock in her mouth.

Will someone please come to the defense of Gerald Walpin, who was fired by President O'Bama for doing his job, then smeared.  Sounds like gangster tactics, which are getting to be commonplace in our new administration.  Every day I think it can't get worse, and then it does!!!!  O'Bama, Pelosi, Boxer--look out, the grass roots people are going to rise up against such as you, and restore our country to some decency.

The attitude displayed by that to-me loathsome disgusting foul vapid illogical emotion-laden typical female Boxer creature is representative of how most American elites view those outside their small socio-economic group.

I am convinced the USA is in the throes of class warfare and the Boxer behavior is one of a horde of examples that revel the disdain the few elites have for the vast majority of Americans.

Our elite class is a greater threat to our freedom and prosperity than ALL foreign terrorists combined.

Perhaps the disgusting display of deep-set attitude by that Barbara Boxer thing will awaken some of the officer corps to the reality of class warfare and that a military coup against the elite class and their minions and lackeys and the enormous bureaucracies created by those elites to distance themselves from the citizenry is likely the only method to make any meaningful changes to the elite-created status quo.
