Democracy Corp Poll: 41% of Americans Feel US Standing Declining
The Democracy Corp, conducted a poll last month indicating 41-51% of Americans believe America's standing throughout the world has dropped since President Obama took office 13 months ago.
Democracy Corp was founded in 1999 by former Clinton adviser James Carville and Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg. Democracy Corps calls itself an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to making the government of the United States more responsive to the American people.
The survey, titled "A new Democracy Corps-Third Way survey", was released Monday. Third Way calls itself "the leading moderate think-tank of the progressive movement."
According to the Democracy Corp site, "A new Democracy Corps-Third Way survey provides a wake-up call for President Obama, his party, and progressives on national security. This is the first of what will be a series of jointly conducted, in-depth analysis by Democracy Corps and Third Way of the public’s views on national security, and the results are sobering."
National Security
The survey shows that on the question of keeping America safe, Democrats trail Republicans by 14 points and by 31 points on ensuring a strong military.
On the national security front, 50 % of likely voters say Republicans would likely do a better job than Democrats, a 14-point swing since May. Thirty-three percent favored Democrats.
"The erosion since May is especially strong among women, and among independents, who now favor Republicans on this question by a 56 to 20 percent margin," the pollsters said in their findings.

His problem is not the sort you sleep off, unfortunately. It is hard wired. part of his tradition, Stiil, he is in Nebraska, so the impact is minimal

Uwe: Apparently this organization that conducted the poll is quite concerned about the results.

We,the people who want peace on earth because only peace can guarantee security, always feel insecured under any US administration,be it Republican or Democrat and under our own governments which make us more vulnerable to insecurity by unleashing state terrorism.

I don't get it! How was the poll question framed? HOW in god's name, could anyone come out of 8 years of watching illegal invasions, watching a Republican President IGNORE a warning of 9/11 impending, lie about WMDs, kill off 4300 US troops for nothing, ruin our reputation in the world as the world's biggest terrorist, and they still say the Republicans would keep us safer? If anything, bush and his group of war loving hawks made us less safe with his bully cowboy tactics. We were never hated by others the way we were hated under them. God must love stupid people----he made so many of them !

The poll was conducted by a liberal/progressive organization. Check out their site. Perception is everything when it comes to how Americans feel about certain issues. This poll shows the same trends that every other poll out there shows. I could plot a graph of ten different polls in regard to the security question and all the graphs would look the same.
I, myself, certainly don't feel "safe" under the Obama administration and the present Democratic congress. That's not to say that I felt safe under Bush. After all, under Bush we experienced the 9/11 attacks where over 3000 people were killed. One of the reasons why people feel less "safe" is a direct result of the Obama administration's handling of the Christmas Day bomber incident.
