Democracy under fire from with in. Niger Demonstration. by Paschen

By, Uwe Paschen.
Niamey, the Capital City of Niger, has know a larger Uprising of people demonstrating in the Thousand again their governments Plan to change the Constitutions allowing the President to remain in Power indefinitely, Or at least for another term.
This is not an Isolated case, around the World our democracies are being under attack from with in, In Venezuela, Chaves tried and still does in a way to change the constitution in order to remain in power indefinitely. In Germany and Japan the Governments have tried to force a constitutional change as well and this with out consulting the People nor following democratic procedures.
Around the World, our Democracies are being under attack and the danger is not coming from out side, nor from Terrorist groups or other radical movements, No it is coming from with in our Nations and respective Governments that seem to believe they know best and better then the Citizen that elected them and could also remove them from power.
Niger is no exception with this latest attempt of a Government to undermine democracy and ignore the will of the people and revoke their democratic rights. Our Democracies are in serious danger of falling back into a totalitarian Dictatorial system, even in the western Countries the Danger is real and greater then ever today.
The People need to be on their guard and stop this sort of Governmental arrogance before it is to late and may drive us back into a feudal system or worth. In Niger the People have take the Street and spoken as they spoke in Germany, Japan, Venezuela and Thailand against Such Governmental arrogance and attempt to go over the heads of their Citizens.
This  seems to be just the beginning as the even the US has suspended part of their own constitution using 9/11 as their justification to do so, and did since the People did not fight nor opposed their Government with determination as the Citizen of Niger are doing now.

Should we fail to stop this new trend in Niger and elsewhere we may very well have to deal with another Mugabe or Bush very soon and this in our own countries. Even the Industrialized and older Democracies could fall back into such totalitarian regimes. It seems as if all Citizen every where in the World need to be on their guards today more then ever before. As Leo Blum said in 1912, The only way to avoid a war and fight injustice is if all Workers and Citizen of the World unite. He was assassinated in Strasbourg for preaching Unity against Totalitarian regimes and for Justice and Freedom.
