A deal has been reached by a Democratic Party panel today to seat the delegates from Flordia and Michigan with a half-vote each.

After a day of wrangling in front of a sometimes unruly crowd, the Democratic National Committee's rules and bylaws committee reinstated all of Florida and Michigan's delegates to its party convention, with each getting a half-vote to penalize the states for moving their primaries earlier than the party had approved.

This decision will deal a blow to Hillary Clinton, but will back a plan approved by her rival, Barack Obama.

The unanimous 27-0 vote grew out of a lingering controversy over the delegates in the state's disputed primary, which was not recognized by the party because it was held too early and gives Clinton a net gain of 19 delegates in Florida.

The vote followed a 15-12 rejection of a proposal favored by Clinton to seat the full delegation. It came as the panel searched for a compromise over disputed nominating contests in Florida and Michigan. Clinton won both contests.

It will now show up on the home page for four hours. If new developments justify it, I'll renew this flag for another cycle.

amyjudd, I like this story. It's good stuff. I hear Hillary is also looking at getting the courts to do a recall.

Whoever said "Never Give Up" clearly had Hillary in mind.

Guess it's only half-disenfranchisement!

amyjudd, I like this story. It's good stuff.  A great victory for the Clintons.  Still doesn't make a difference.

amyjudd, I like this story. It's good stuff. I'm late due to storms again: three tornadoes touched down in the county to the west of me (luckily on the plains or in pastures), and we've been under intermittent tornado watch and/or severe thunderstorm warning all darned day.
