Democrats fear John McCain will pick a woman as his running mate; Blogger Says Google AdWords Tips Off Pick (Opinion, Analysis)
Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska has too many embarrassing in-house problems that have flared up recently. Secretary of State Condi Rice has said she's not interested.
Will Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson get the nod? If John McCain should pick Hutchinson, who has long odds against her, he could pick up some of the disgruntled Hillary Clinton voters, and women voters in general. I'm still betting on Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, but I wish Rice would jump into this race. Rice's entry would shatter the racist black voting blocs.
Update: here's a blogger who swears that Google adwords have tipped off the choice as....Joe Lieberman.
Meanwhile, the Boston Herald cites sources in saying the choice is Pawlenty: "All the scheduling for Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been turned over to the McCain camp today, according to GOP sources. The move signals Pawlenty will be John McCain’s running mate.
GOP sources say that Pawlenty is the only potential VP candidate who has relinquished all his scheduling."
With John McCain to name his vice president on Friday, the smoke signals from the Republican Party are spelling out the name of Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.
.....The prospect of a woman has some senior Democrats very jittery, as the Clinton psychodrama plays out its latest chapter in Denver while polls show Mr Obama slipping behind.
A senior strategist, who has run two presidential campaigns, told me: "If McCain picks a woman, this thing is done."

PEP, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I think a woman will be very exciting! But I guess I can see the apprehension around it, dated though that view is.

Thanks for the flag. I can't see any reason for anyone to have any apprehension about a woman as VP or president--but as Shirley Chisholm said many long years ago, it's harder to be female than it is to be black and succeed. (I've quoted her many times in citing her prior presidential race.)
Palin's got a mess right now to clean up, although it's not nearly as big or as bad as any Obama mess. However, for a woman, even a mild mess will be a problem; whereas men can get away with about anything, even cavorting with terrorists!
I'd truly love to see Rice change her mind and jump into it, just to sweep the race cards off the table and the "Obama trumps all" game. But she won't. Texas is a strong state, and even to mention Hutchison will have positive repercussions for the McCain campaign.
Personally, I need for Pawlenty to get the nod to cover my bets! ;}

I like that quote from Shirley Chisholm!
I'd like to see Rice too get into the race, but you're right, it's not going to happen. Sigh...

PEP, I like this story. It's good stuff. Wouldn't that be an interesting twist?

PEP, I like this story. It's good stuff. So Obama & his running mate will need to fight another woman after battling with Hillary Clinton for long.

Amy, in an earlier post somewhere I have the exact quote from Shirley. She was an awesome woman! I'm so glad I knew her.

Rhonda, that would be a twist with elegance! ;} Thanks for the read and the flag.

If McCain goes for Hutchison or Palin (the latter not very likely now, I think), it could really put something up Obama's nose! Thanks for stopping by to read and for the flag, too.

May be McCain wil do, but the old man will probably pick another old man as running mate. A women should be nice to create a nice couple of grandpa and grandma.

If I were to guess I think Democrats would love to see a woman VP candidate. This just puts McCain more in the center and his base is outside of that which is going to reduce his turn out.

I can assure you, Hutchinson will not attract a significant number of Hillary supporters. Hutchinson's stance on such issues as abortion and healthcare will keep Democrats in the Obama camp.

Looks like Palin. She has her Gasline Bill and is free for the Nationals if she wants it.

Might want to change the picture to Gov Sarah Palin

How would picking a conservative woman put him more in the center?

Worse than "McBush" :
O(s)ama - Bi(n La)den on the ticket for the Dems - or is that the ticket for the radical Muslims who hate life and hate America???? Eerie resemblance, I must say!
