Rishawn "Bean"  Morrison, 19,  the  Chichester High School student who was arrested in connection with the torture and death of a 6 week old kitten, earlier this month, is still behind bars. Walked out of his classroom in hand cuffs, on Oct 8, Morrison was arrested without incident. On hearing the charges Morrison told Chester Police Officer, Detective Joseph Massi; "That's not me, I'm an animal lover." To which Massi replied, "we have sources who say otherwise."

Morrison has been held in leu of $50.000.00 bail,  at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, in the torture-death of "Cuddles" the little 6 week old brown tabby. He allegedly stoned and set on fire, Oct 4th. The kitten named Cuddles by his rescuer, died at the Old Marple Veterinary Hospital on Oct 5, from heat and smoke inhalation.

According to the arrest affidavit and lead investigator, Detective Nelson W. Collins Jr;  two younger teens both identified the man they know only as "Bean" through a photo-line up as Rishawn Morrison. They have both also given Chester Police a written statement, where they both attest to Morrison being the loan assailant, out the group of up to 15 teens.

If convicted - according to,  The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office;  Morrison faces a maximum sentence of up to two years imprisonment and $5,000 fine for animal cruelty and 90 days imprisonment and $300 fine for disorderly conduct. A first-degree misdemeanor for animal cruelty is punishable by up to five years imprisonment and $10,000 fine.

At the request of his attorney, Morrison's preliminary hearing was postponed until Dec 1, 2009. But the request to lower his bail to allow the high school senior to return to school, was denied by District Judge Dawn Vann.

LCM,

Thanks for the update on this disturbing story.Once again you've done another great job! :-)

I do tend to shy away from these this type of news became it gets me riled up!

Harsher penalties need to handed down in all of the States for these types of crimes. One or two years isn't long enough! I also feel that all of these monsters who torture, maim, or kill innocent animals- besides getting much longer sentences- should be required to go through extensive counseling.

These monsters are "budding psychopaths" who clearly have psychological problems. Animal cruelty is often a precursor to violent crimes against people. Almost all of your serial killers have backgrounds that show they have tortured, maimed, or killed animals, before they moved on to human targets!

In my opinion- animal abuse is disturbing and a crime that is sick in nature. These crimes need to be taken more serious and looked into more. What that monster did to that innocent kitten, should have him locked up for a long time- preferably in a mental institution for criminals like him.
Anyone that could brutally and savagely kill or harm an innocent and helpless animal is not human they are monsters, and more attention needs to be paid to these sickos!

As for the ATT. wanting Morrison's bail reduced, so he could go back to H.S., is ludicrous!! There's many reasons that monster shouldn't be allowed any where a school campus...he's a threat and a menace to society- especially those younger than him that he may prey on....he's too old for H.S....and the best reason is because that monster deserves and needs to stay behind bars!!!
