A sad end to a young soul , statistics about poverty in India show growth and government talks about how they have done so many things to improve standards of livings and Specially education - and for sure stress Educating the girl child. If that is true, then why has this happened, why didn't this girl get her share of rights and support?

Is it because the statistics are a BIG hoax, and maybe the government has taken steps but only in certain villages? Or was it that this family who lost their child to poverty unaware that they could approach the government or non-profit organizations and avail funds?

Where is the lack? The public who are ignorant and do not educate themselves or the government who lacks in reach?

Denied higher studies, girl hangs self
BALASORE: A 17-year-old girl committed suicide after her father expressed his inability to teach her further at Nilakanthapur village in Bhadrak

district on Saturday. Sona Mohapatra hanged herself from the ceiling when her parents were not present at the house.

As the family's financial condition was not good, the victim was staying at her sister's marital home at Marshaghai and pursued her plus two at a college there.

"She wanted to do her graduation. But since we were not in a position to provide her the money father tried to convince her not to study further on Friday. She was found hanging from the ceiling the next day," said her brother Abhiram, who claimed he was the sole bread-winner and it was difficult to support the five-member family.

Pretty sad.... In fact it is a pity. I would never kill myself because of lack of education. Why? Because everyone lacks one. Even the the people who say they have an education. And I might add that many who have an education do some of the dumbest things in life. Not to mention the Institutions that say they are about education; when all they are really about is indoctrination of students.

And then to kill yourself because you can not join one of the Idiot Universities or Colleges or Schools' is rather dismal thinking.... Perhaps she killed herself because she is so intelligent and saw how massive ignorance throughout the world is impossible to help.... But to think she killed herself because she was denied an education is more of a lack of faith...

It is heartbreaking to see students up against each other piting and vying for education and dollars...instead of supporting and cheering each other on to achieve. Competition is as evil as you can get...

People spend thousands of dollars to get an education and after they graduate they are left standing in the unemployment line.....we have had people in the the US a country over 233 years old who only knows how to make armies and bullets to wage war, and has never figured out how to make economies work with balanced budgets....and solve the major environmental issues....

We have people who have political jobs of leadership when they graduated in the 50's and 60's running a modern world....is like having cavemen being able to understand how a cigarette lighter works.... Our Society is far from highly educated...more like highly inebriated instead.

I remember my inability to get through the Indoctrination Process....people steal your answers, steal your money, do drugs and party all the time....is hardly a means to claim educational achievement.  As long as you get your loan money and pay the Colleges you are guaranteed a worthless sheepskin to hang on your worthless home....because of the US financial meltdown.

Sorry to hear this girl took her life.....but I have to say......it is not because of  her poverty or the lies about worth of Education in the world...
