NP Rank:
Despondent Grandfather Longed to 'Be with Caylee'
The grandfather of slain Florida toddler Caylee Anthony has been hospitalized for a 72-hour psychiatric observation, after being found by police at a Florida hotel early Friday. George Anthony, 57, had been reported missing late Thursday by his family, after receiving text messages saying he "did not want to live anymore, and that he wanted to be with Caylee," according to a police report.
A five-page suicide letter was found in Anthony's car indicating that he wanted to harm himself, said police spokesman Jimmie Flynt. Police tracked the GPS on his cell phone to a Florida hotel at around 2:30 this morning,
Cindy Anthony told police she became concerned after learning that her husband failed to show up for several meetings he had scheduled, including one with a friend in Lakeland, Florida, according to the police report. She tried to call her husband, she said, but he did not call her back. He also did not respond to her text messages.
Starting about 10:45 p.m., Cindy Anthony said, she and others received several text messages on their cell phones. "The text messages George sent stated he did not want to live anymore and that he wanted to be with Caylee," according to the police report. "George text(ed) he wanted to be left alone and he wanted to make sure Caylee was in God's arms."
"He is not OK. George would not be with us without of efforts of law enforcement," Conway said.Watch the latest development in a family traged

Oh this is so sad - I hope the mother gets some serious time for causing this much pain.

Serious time is the least the mother, Casey, should get. She should have done to her exactly whatever it is she did to her child.

We still don't know if she did anything to her child. But I do have to say that there is a huge shadow of doubt and many holes in her story. It is a very sad and selfish act if she did. I feel bad for that grandfather/father. He is probably clinically depressed at this point and is tortured with what has happened in his family.

This man needs some help. It's hard enough to lose a loved one in the family, but to have them murdered by someone that you love as well, if that's the case, must be torture. It can cause such a deep depression and so many questions in your mind on how and why. I feel for this family and the unrest in their mind.

This has to be one of the worst situations to be in. He is not even able to be objective. I can not even imagine his pain.
