Detroit, city of supreme effort
Photographer Aaron Sneddon experiences Detroit, and comes out all the better.
Detroit was founded in 1701 and is the largest city in Michigan, so it’s been around for a long time now. In 2009 Detroit was calculated to have a population of just over 910,000 (Which is less than it was in 1950!)
Detroit is known as Motor City and Motown, Motown for its amazing musical history, and Motor City because, well, everyone knows why.
Mayor Dave Bing plans to convert Detroit into a multi skilled diverse city once again, efforts to revitalise the city are proving successful, with companies such as GM and Quicken flourishing.
Aaron shows Detroit as it is, no glitz, just a city that he believes, can once again be a city that people will want to live in, will want to move to.
“I grew a beard to come to Detroit, I was honestly so scared, I’m going home with the knowledge that next time I return, a hotel room in the city may have to be booked well in advance”.
