The Diane Borchardt Story: Seduced by Madness
Diane Borchardt lived in Wisconsin with her husband Ruben, his two children and their daughter. She was a teacher's aide / study hall monitor at Jefferson High School, but in 1994 was convicted of hiring three students to kill her estranged husband Ruben.
The two were married in October 1979 and things seemed fine until 1993 when Ruben fell in love with another woman called Judy Pitt Frantz and asked Diane for a divorce. The divorce did not end well for Diane and Ruben was given the house.
Diane then began soliciting some of her students for the job of killing Ruben, offering them cars and $20,000 from Ruben's life insurance policy.
Douglas Vest was one of the students and asked his two friends to help him. On the night before Ruben's murder, Diane picked a fight with Ruben and left the house.
At around 3:30am the three students broke in to the house and shot Ruben twice with a sawed-off shotgun and he died of his injuries in hospital.
Diane was convicted of his murder.
There was a movie made of their lives called 'Seduced by Madness' and a photo of the cover can be seen here.
