Darn I can't believe it. When Hillary Clinton was selected as Obama's Secretary of State, I figured that there was a motive behind her accepting this position.
I truly believed, and still do, that Hillary Clinton has not given up her aspirations to become the next President of the United States.
Hillary Clinton has opted to stay in background of the major issues and bills that are moving through Congress. She was behind Hillarycare during the Clinton Administration but has remained silent on that issue. She was also silent on Cap and Trade and has not uttered one word publicly on Aghanistan.
She has made it known that Putin has no heart, demonstrating that she doesn't believe that Russia is sincere in the hand extended to Obama. A point that seems to be verified by Russia's relations with Iran. In fact Russia has no intention in going along with any sanctions against the rogue state.
Tonight, for the first time, on any media, Dick Morris, former adviser to Bill Clinton, said what I have thought all along, Hillary is keeping her powder try so she can challenge Obama during the primaries leading up to the Presidential Election 2012.
Hillary, according to recent polls, is more popular than the President.

Sanctions do more harm than good. No discussion neccesary.

There is always room for discussion. What alternative would you propose?

Fig of speech. Not sure. Having not throughly studied foreign policy i would not be so bold as to propose a better solution. However, sactions begot corruption and animosity. They do not foster cooperation or world peace. They hold us back from achieving the desired end result.

2012 is her last chance. By 2016 she will be past 70 and out of serious consideration.
It the economy is still rotten, if Afghanistan blows up or Iran tests a nuclear bomb, Obama could be beaten in the primaries by Hillary Clinton.
Of course she would lose to Sarah Palin in the general election.

I agree her best hope, if she is to achieve her ambition is 2012

ACP: God forgive me for what I'm about to say and cross my heart and hope to die: I would feel a hell of a lot better about my country's direction if Hillary were president! There! I said it! Don't tell anyone!

One either loves or hates Hillary but that also the same with Obama?
I expect in the near future that Hilary will put her foot in her mouth, she is no Margret Thatcher that most of the citizen of UK hated but secretly admired. I truthfully do not think she poses much of a problem to Obama in 2012 as by then he will be on a high. Especial when the recession is completely over. Iran and North Korea are USA's best friends then the Taliban are all killed off and all the troops spend Xmas at home at the end of 2011. Then of course all American citizens have by then learned to love the new health system.
Heil Obama untill the next recession in 2015. lol
Its sods law, sods law rules unfortunately. I personal do not like either personality that much but Obama can talk a monky and its fleas of a gorila's back and Hilary needs lessons from Maggy plus of course a much bigger handbag to keep an anti tank weapon in. lol
Hey a guy does not get the Nobel peace prize for nothing don't you know, lol

I don't think Clinton is just quietly standing in the background. In fact, I think she is actively supporting the smear campaign against Obama. He should have never put her in this position!

On this I agree with you.
at 06:11 on October 17th, 2009
sara, did you ever hear the saying, "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"? Used in The Godfather, the saying is said to be attributed to Sun Tzu (400 B.C.), author of On the Art of War. My point, President Obama may be many things, but he is not a fool IMO:)!
at 06:16 on October 17th, 2009
Rhonda I think that was his motivation in appointing her Secretary of State. VP would have been too close:)
at 06:19 on October 17th, 2009
Not necessarily -- Vice President Biden's wife slipped -- unfortunately, I can't remember what I was watching at that time -- evidently, President Obama offered Mr. Biden both positions -- obviously, he chose the VP:)!

Here's a link to one story published in January of this year: Loose Lips: Biden's Wife says Joe was offered V.P. and Secretary of State jobs.

Thanks very much for the link Rhonda:)

Dick Morris and Roy C of NowPublic agree with AlberaCowPoke.
The Clintons have decided that events will destroy Obama, accelerated by his lack of effective response.
They are perfectly willing to nurse that wound, that actual affront to their esteem, of being accused of being racist by Obama.
The Clintons were the historic first to get the race card played over being a critic of the Anointed One.
Their revenge will be sweet.
I am with Rory. I would still prefer Colin Powell to them all or Romney.
at 09:49 on October 17th, 2009
As I have always said in the past, don't underestimate the Clintons. Collin Powell would have made a great President, regardless of what party he belonged to. As a former Chief of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary of State, he would also have been the best qualified.

Only three encumbant presidents have lost reelection
Jimmy Carter was defeated by Ronald Reagan in 1980
George H.W Bush was defeated by Bill Clinton in 1992
William Taft was defeated by Woodrow Wilson in 1916
The chances of Obama losing reelection is possible, but I think he would really have had to fail on most fronts--please do not give me a list of those now. A lot can happen in three years.
I doubt he would lose reelection, especially if the economy continues to improve, and we still have three more years.

Herbert Walker Bush lost his re-election because of his famous words "Watch my lips-no new taxes", a promise he could not keep.
President Obama promised a tax cut to 95% of Americans, a promise, in all likelihood, he will not be able to keep either.
