Guess it is easy to see which side this Diplomats Pita is buttered on!

Guess this conflict may not end ever!

The authour (Photo Inset) of the letter towards to diplomat in question is below

Dear Ms. Trine Lilleng,

You were an unknown Norwegian diplomat till this month.

No longer.

As first secretary in the Norwegian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, you recently sent out an email on your office account in which you declared: "The grandchildren of Holocaust survivors from World War II are doing to the Palestinians exactly what was done to them by Nazi Germany."

Accompanying your text were photos, with an emphasis on children, seeking to juxtapose the Holocaust with the recent Israeli military operation in Gaza.

Clearly, you are miscast in your role as a diplomat, all the more so of a nation that has sought to play a mediating role in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

In fact, you're desperately in need of some education.

Let's begin with your current posting. You've been in Riyadh since 2007.

If you're so anguished by human rights violations, perhaps you could have begun by devoting some of your attention - and email blasts - to what surrounds you.

Or were your eyes diplomatically shut?

Hi Barry,

I quote the following from your (good) post:

"The grandchildren of Holocaust survivors from World War II are doing to the Palestinians exactly what was done to them by Nazi Germany."

Well to bring a fresh perspective tho the diplomatic rumination of the honorable Norwegian diplomat, I quote this from my own blog ..."To face this Hamas purposely brutal kidnapping of his own people, to be used as shields against Israeli defence attacks when they launch  rocket on civilians in Israel, the IDF adopted several preventive ways to minimize  the Gazan casualties."...

For example:...."The double-tailed, 40 foot-long Heron spy drone banked over the Gaza rooftops, and zoomed in on the man, to get a better look at the now-designated target. The man was tying the wire at about eye-level, from one home to another. It was an odd location for a booby trap. But a perfect place to hang clothes. Gil, his voice rising, told everyone to stop. ‘Don’t attack! Don’t attack’ he yelled. ‘The man, he’s doing laundry.’

Well to all the Ms. Trine Lilleng, what are your  learned opinions about such an immoral act: they didn't shot the man on the roof!

And what did another well know diplomat  say..."Louis Michel, the European Commissioner and humanitarian aid commissioner , who was not always a great supporter of Israel, visiting Israel he said, I quote: ...."...You can not talk to a terrorist movement that uses terrorism as a means. We can not accept how Hamas behaves be confused with resistance. When you kill innocent civilians, it is not the resistance is terrorism, ‘he added.”.  For the whole article on my blog look here.

The diplomat did not write that statement. Therefore the "news" item is false and misleading.

The diplomat forwarded an Email that contained a message from the official website of Norman Finkelstein. The message was posted on January 16 2009.

Here is the link to the original post:

The images are compelling. You can view the images here.

Norman Gary Finkelstein (born December 8, 1953) is an American political scientist and author, whose primary fields of research are the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the politics of the Holocaust. A graduate of SUNY Binghamton, he received his Ph.D in Political Science from Princeton University. He has held faculty positions at Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Hunter College, New York University, and, most recently, DePaul University, where he was an assistant professor from 2001 to 2007.

Heritage,

What is the point you're trying to make in your disingenuous comment? Forwarding an inflammatory, misleading, factually and morally erroneous email as Ms. L did is putting her diplomatic seal of approval on it, as well as that of her government. Not only is it misguided but hypocritical in her hiding behind another's comments.
