Obama does not have 10 years, in fact, he has one year to get unemployment down to 6%. I think he could do it if he works closely with Commerce to advance his attention to energy and reengineering the economy in transportation and housing around a new energy paradigm. The trouble is, Congress can’t act fast enough. Therefore, the best prospect is two years, though if the American public serves up another incorrigible congress, all bets are off.

“A decade of high unemployment is looming

‘New abnormal:’ Some think 10 years won’t be enough to replace losses

WASHINGTON - Call it the Terrible Teens.

The decade ahead could be a brutal one for America's unemployed — and for people with jobs hoping for pay raises.

At best, it could take until the middle of the decade for the nation to generate enough jobs to drive down the unemployment rate to a normal 5 or 6 percent and keep it there. At worst, that won't happen until much later — perhaps not until the next decade.”

Won't happen in two years under the best of circumstances and intentions. This is a 10 year problem

It is so sad.Obama was elected on a voice and vision of change and ever since he was elected everyone has worked and conspired against him.Pork barreling and rampant financial fraud, bail outs of corporations then payments of bonuses to executives.   Shame on you all.  There should be rioting in the streets instead of the chest beating and additional "perks" for your home riding.Google MeDavid PylypLiving in Toronto

Even the most gutsy, intelligent and pragmatic leaders can only deliver if their team knows how to channelize their qualities.

Repeated U turns and friction amongst the most crucial members of the core team reflects upon the lack of coherence amongst Obama's most trusted friends and aids.

Obama needs to pick and differentiate between friends and foes and most of all needs to be firm and clearheaded over his decisions and ideals.

For the time being the odds are against him and if he keeps struggling/ stumbling, the results would have a global negative impact apart from being detrimental to US interest.

"Obama needs to pick and differentiate between friends and foes and most of all needs to be firm and clearheaded over his decisions and ideals." Uh huh.
