A Bus Hit and Killed a 10-Year-Old Boy Outside Disney's Fort Wilderness

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that a 10-year-old boy was struck and killed by a Disney bus near the Disney Fort Wilderness resort on Thursday afternoon. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney has not released an official statement on the incident and the boy has not been named at this time.

It is not known how the accident happened, but Reedy Creek Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating the incident. This accident happened at one of the busiest times of the year for Disney as many school children are out on Spring Break and Easter weekend is approaching.

Other Disney Transportation Incidents

This is not the first accident involving a Disney bus, as on March 23, a bus driven by Jean Valentin crashed with another charter bus and eight people had to go to the hospital.

Last July, two buses crashed in to each other in front of the Contemporary Resort and 12 people had to be taken to hospital.

Last year a 21-year-old monorail driver died when another train backed in to the train he was driving after a track switch malfunctioned.

Fort Wilderness: A Disney Attraction

Fort Wilderness is a campground near to Disney World where 800 campsites are available and 400 cabins can be rented. Buses take people from Fort Wilderness to the Disney Parks and back again all day long. They also take guests to the shopping districts and water parks.

About six months ago, a 4-year-old girl was seriously hurt at Fort Wilderness when a golf cart in which she was riding overturned.

The girl suffered injuries to her neck when her father said he had to swerve to avoid another cart coming right towards them.
