The members of the extended family of President Barack Hussein Obama Jr. can be found on three continents.

They are all colors, all races. Among the languages spoken by the family: English, Indonesian, French, Cantonese, Swahili, Luo and Igbo. They are Christian, Muslim and Jewish.

Here's a glimpse into the influences that helped shape the new President of the United States.

He does have a varied family.

One thing I hope the election of president Obama does is move us closer to a point where color or race or ethnicity does not matter.

Wow -- extended family...

An example of mixing customs, languages and religions together with peace.

Great perspective, Karen.  Mr. Obama's family certainly represents many aspects of the American population far more than previous administrations.

ah, wish there was much more of such mixes in the world to enable us all to be friends rather than eye each other with suspicion!

It doesn't seem to bring much peace to unborn babies, though

Love the the inclusiveness of this new First Family and administration. Also, enjoyed the background story found at the link as well.
